As another wave of graduates stand poised to sweep into the creative industries, we took the opportunity to head down to the D&AD New Blood exhibition yesterday for a peruse of some of the talent on show. With the best work from over 70 courses in various commercial creative disciplines on display, it’s an impressive if somewhat daunting parade of creative work. Although we did a terrible job of documenting any of the talent on show – Creative Review might be your best bet on this – it was great to see some pretty accomplished advertising work up on the walls.
It’s worth noting though, that this wasn’t it. The One Minute Briefs stand was a particular highlight, with the concept being about as straightforward as it sounds. Armed with a pen, a piece of paper and a one-word brief, the aim was to fire out an advert with just one minute on the clock. Although the quality was generally lacking, the quantity certainly wasn’t as the photograph above only partially demonstrates.
It was also great to see the presence of the Young Creative Council who do brilliant things for the young guns hoping to come into the industry by putting on events, providing portfolio crits, matching up creatives and finding them placements or work. If you’re not already aware of their noble work, definitely check them out.
