“You cannot truly listen to anyone and do anything else at the same time.”

— M. Scott Peck. That quote shocked me; not all but most of the time that I’m “listening” I’m also probably doing something else. This blog post talks about active listening, and how you can improve your skills. I can honestly say that since reading it, I’ve got better at having meaningful conversations in and outside of work.


TREND RedBull wins at e-sports

e-sports have become a cultural phenomenon, with tournament footage drawing 320M people worldwide and counting. It has grown by over 90% in the past year – Google Trends report. An example of a brand doing this well and embracing the future of “sports” is Red BullWatch their profile of Miracle.


CONTENT – A drama series in WhatsApp

Dark social is notoriously hard for brands to penetrate. This campaign by an insurance provider in South Africa is novel for its storytelling within WhatsApp. The idea is pure genius, even if the mechanic seems a little clunky. Building on the native user behaviour within WhatsApp has made the narrative of their drama series even richer.

I’m in two minds about this one, but it sparked a debate within me, so I thought you’d get a kick out of it. This TED talk shows a company fully embracing technology within their workplace in the search of a true meritocracy. But in their own words, 20-30% of the people can’t use it and it normally takes 18-months before you’re comfortable working there.
