“It was fantastic to feel included” – Audio description for our latest Rightmove ad receives warm reception from the visually impaired community

In the UK, more than 2 million people are living with sight loss, of which around 340,000 are registered as blind or partially sighted*. Therefore, it was paramount to Fold7 and Rightmove that we produce an audio described version of our latest Rightmove ad “One Day Could be Today”, enabling 2 million more people to enjoy the ad just as well as those with full sight.
Being told you have a visual impairment that can’t be treated can be difficult to come to terms with and manage, so we were enthused with the wonderful response from a member of the public, who is severely sight impaired (registered blind). They wrote a short piece on LinkedIn to congratulate the campaign for its inclusivity, reaching out separately to say:
“I loved the new One Day Could be Today advert because the well-considered and beautifully crafted audio description really painted a picture for me. Audio description is rarely included on TV programs and even less so on adverts so it was fantastic to feel included. Accessibility is a hot topic at the moment so it is great to see Rightmove trailing a blaze for inclusion; it is much appreciated.”
Thank you for getting in touch, we are glad to have brightened your day!
